CMS Announces Series of Nationwide RAC 101 Calls

Four Calls Planned

CMS announced yesterday four new Conference calls for providers in April and May. The schedule is as follows:

• For All Provider Types:                                  April 28, 2010   1:00pm - 2:30pm EST
• For Home Health and Hospice Providers:          May 4, 2010     1:00pm - 2:30pm EST
• For DMEPOS:                                               May 5, 2010     1:00pm - 2:30pm EST
• For Physicians:                                             May 12, 2010    1:00pm - 2:30pm EST

The call in number is the same for all sessions: 1-877-251-0301.

There does not appear to be any requirement to register for the calls.

No additional information is provided in the post on their website, but Connie Leonard, Director of the CMS Division of Recovery Audit Operations, was quoted by This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it in a RAC Monitor article, saying, "These are basically a repeat of the provider outreach we have completed in the past. They will be completed by CMS staff and will be an overview of the RAC process.  While some new issues will be discussed, it will only be as examples of issues the RACs may be reviewing."

The content for these sessions is not likely to be much different from the earlier RAC Outreach sessions that CMS and the RACs conducted in the fall of 2009. However, it is expected that there will be one or two examples of posted approved issues reviewed, as appropriate for the provider audience on the call.

As before, it is expected that CMS will allow callers to ask questions during a Question & Answer period at the end of their presentation.

There is currently no indication from CMS if transcripts or recordings of the calls will be made available. eduTrax will endeavor to secure such documents, if available, and post them here on our portal.
